My day to day-week to week routines can be hectic. Especially maintaining my schedule centered around my son’s schedule. The main hours that this mama has to operate is 5am to 9pm. Here is full rundown of how my Sunday to Sunday flows and function.
Before I get into the day to day, I’ll tell you about my morning and nightly routines which I practice religiously. I’m a firm believer of practicing self-care, gratitude exercises, stretching, and then having a cup of tea (or coffee) to seal the deal! Now that my son is in grade school, my morning’s start at 5am and this is by choice so that I can have personal time. If you know, you know! These early hours are used to ground my mind before waking up the household and jumping into the day. This might look like stretching and journaling, reading and meditating, writing or reciting affirmations, or a combination! It’s important to note, I pray alot throughout the day. I pray for a smooth work day, protection, guidance, and anything that I’m working on or working through. God is #1.
At the end of my day once the household is quiet and sleeping, I take an hour before bed to decompress. Relieve the stress and fast-pace of the day. Reset my mind from hearing “mommy” a million times a day and focus on not being needed. This time is used by stretching, reading, listening to meditation or jazz music, and/or any other mindful activity that feels needed.
Sunday: Reset + Financial Budgeting
Sunday’s are my favorite days of the week. As a virgo, this is because most of my planning and organizing starts on this day! These are also my cleaning days. My morning is spent cleaning, doing laundry, creating a grocery list for the week, grocery shopping, car wash, reviewing weekly income + expenses, and shamefully… lots of Youtube videos! lol
Monday-Friday:
My weekdays are almost identical. Once I finish my morning routine, I find a morning block on Amazon Flex, then I wake my son up. Once we’re both dressed and ready, I pick my route up, do school drop off, then I get going with work. After completing my first block of the day, I go walking at a nearby park. I love a good trail walk! I do my best to prioritize this 3 times a week, if not daily. My mornings are spent intermittent fasting so by 11am-1pm I take a break to eat my 1st meal of the day. I start Instacarting for a few small orders, then by 2:30pm I pick my son up and we do an evening route together. Or if I hit my daily goal, I turn all apps off and take my a$$ home!
During all the driving I do, I make sure to have a good playlist of music to listen to and motivational youtube videos on rotation. My work week is boring, redundant, but consistency produces results.
Once home, I start cooking. I do my best to meal prep for 3 days at a time because cooking nightly during the week is just a pain in the a$$ for me. And in this season, I’m not guilting myself for falling short somewhere. Take out it is, if I’m way too tired.
Saturday: Family day
Saturday’s are our designated fun day. But before the fun, we have morning learning sessions. While cooking breakfast, my son does some sort of work. He might a complete a page in his workbook, watch an educational video, or flashcards. Then he does chores. I try to keep him involved throughout the week with helping around the house as his way to contribute. Usually throughout the week, my son will mention an activity he wants to do or I’ll come across a cool place to check out. We’ll take the afternoon to explore. There are days where he opts out of activity for a new toy and we enjoy our inside time. Which I love! I get to lay around or catch up on homework.
Does my week go as planned?
Absolutely not lol. But I get pretty close to it with some improvising. Sometimes I’m genuinely too tired to finish a task. Other moments I’m overstimulated from the day or from my son. I will end the day early in a heartbeat! Even during my work day, I do my best to check my energy level often. I’m all for pushing myself to completion, but if I feel like I need more rest- I honor it. If I feel any nudge to change directions in my day- I honor it. Self-awareness keeps me safe while working.
I do my best to keep a flexible schedule because there are moments where change is needed. But the main thing is routine and schedules create progress. Lock in or get locked out!
That’s all for now. You’ll hear from me in the next post 🙂
